Happy New Year & the Practice of Letting Go

Happy New Year 🌕✨

As we step into this new year together, I want to take a moment to wish you a heartfelt Happy New Year. Whether the year ahead feels full of excitement, uncertainty, relief, or quiet hope, you are welcome here exactly as you are. A new year often comes with pressure to become someone new or to immediately set big goals. In this space, we’re doing something a little different—we’re starting by letting go.

Fireworks mark the turning of the year — a moment to pause, reflect, and gently let go as something new begins.

Letting go doesn’t mean giving up or pushing things away. It means softening our grip. It’s the practice of noticing what we’ve been carrying—physically, mentally, emotionally—and gently asking what we’re ready to release. The beginning of the year is a powerful time to pause and reflect, and this week’s classes are designed to support that process in a grounded, nourishing way.

Letting Go as a Yoga Practice

In yoga, letting go happens in subtle ways. It shows up when we stop forcing a stretch and allow the body to open in its own time. It happens when we release expectations of how a pose should feel and instead listen to what is. It also happens when we give ourselves permission to rest.

Yin and Restorative yoga are especially supportive practices for this theme. These slower styles invite us to stay, to breathe, and to be present with sensation rather than rushing past it. Over time, this creates space—not just in the body, but in the mind and heart as well.

This week, I invite you to explore questions like:

  • What am I ready to leave behind from last year?
  • Where can I soften instead of pushing?
  • What would it feel like to begin the year with less effort and more awareness?

You don’t need clear answers. Simply holding these reflections as you move and rest can be enough.

This Week’s Classes

I’m so excited to share this week of classes with you, all centered around the theme of letting go and creating space as we enter the new year.

🌕 Full Moon Yin Yoga – Letting Go Saturday at 7:00 PM (MST)
We’ll begin the week with a Yin yoga practice aligned with the Full Moon, which is traditionally a time of release and completion. This is also the first full and supermoon of the new year, making it an especially potent moment to slow down, turn inward, and reflect.

In this class, we’ll hold poses for longer periods, working gently with the connective tissues while using the breath as an anchor. Expect a grounding, introspective practice that supports emotional release, nervous system regulation, and deep rest.

🌙 Restorative Yoga – Monday at 7:00 PM (MST)
This Monday evening Restorative class is an invitation to fully rest. Using supportive props and minimal movement, we’ll create shapes that allow the body to feel safe, supported, and held. This practice is perfect if you’re feeling tired, overwhelmed, or simply in need of a pause.

Restorative yoga reminds us that rest is not something we earn—it’s something we need. Starting the week with deep rest can set the tone for a more balanced and compassionate approach to the days ahead.

🌑 Yin Yoga – Letting Go – Wednesday at 7:00 PM (MST)
We’ll close out the week with another Yin practice focused specifically on letting go. This class will continue exploring areas of the body where we often hold tension, while also inviting mindful awareness of thoughts and emotions that may be ready to shift or soften.

This is a beautiful midweek reset—an opportunity to check in with yourself, release what’s no longer serving you, and reconnect with your breath and inner stillness.

An Invitation

You don’t need to commit to a whole new version of yourself this year. You don’t need to have everything figured out. All you need is a willingness to show up, breathe, and meet yourself where you are.

I would love to have you join me for one or all of these classes this week. Whether you’re beginning the year with intention, rest, or gentle release, know that you are supported.

Here’s to a new year rooted in awareness, compassion, and space to simply be.

Happy New Year 🤍
